Bryson’s Apple Orchards Favorite Recipes

Apple Hill Cake

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 c. diced apples
  • 1/2 c. chopped nut meats (pecans or walnuts)
  • 1/2 c. chopped dates
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. baking soda 

Combine sugar, oil and eggs. Add apples, chopped nuts and chopped dates. In a separate bowl, sift together remaining ingredients and add to apple mixture.
Pour into prepared Bundt or tube pan and bake in preheated oven at 350°F for 1 hour.

Try it plain, frosted or with whipped cream. Your family will really enjoy this flavorful dessert any way you like to present it.

Peach Dump Cake

· 2 sticks of butter

· 2 c. sliced fresh peaches

· 1 c. sugar

· 1 box yellow cake mix


Spread fresh sliced peaches evenly across the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle peaches evenly with sugar. Spread cake mix over peaches and sugar. Melt butter, spread over cake mix.  Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes until the top starts to brown.  Serve hot. 

Suggested toppings: vanilla ice-cream or whipped topping. 

Apple Cut-Up Cake

  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups self rising flour 
  • ½ cup Wesson Oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla 
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon 
  • 1 cup chopped nuts,
  • 3 cups chopped apples

Cream eggs, sugar, Wesson Oil.  Add flour, cinnamon, vanilla, Mix well.

Add nuts, chopped apples.  Bake in pan 1 X 9 X 13 at 325 degrees for

1 hour or until done.

Topping

  • 1 large cup light brown sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • ¼ cup sweet milk

Mix and cook until thick as you want it.  Pour over hot cake.

Apple Crisp

  • 5 or 6 cups apples
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup solid shortening
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Fill greased baking dish with apple slices

Mix flour, sugar and egg.  Put over apples

Melt shortening, cool slightly then pour over apple-flour mixture.  Sprinkle to with cinnamon.

Crock Pot Apple Butter

Cut up apples.  Fill 4 qt. Crockpot as full as you can. 

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice

No water added if apples are nice and juicy.  I don’t add water.

Cook at least 12 hours on low heat.

Have clean warm jars ready and lids that have been in hot boiling water.  Put the apple butter in jars and seal tight.

Peach Cobbler

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 8 peaches cut up with 1/4 cup sugar 

Melt margarine in baking dish.  Add sugar, milk and flour.  Mix well.  Pour into melted butter,

Then top with peaches. Bake at 375 degrees until browned and done.

Peach Enchiladas

  • 2 cans of any brand crescent rolls
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter 
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar (or 32 packs of truvia if making a sugar-free version of this recipe) 
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Firm Bryson's Apple Orchard peaches, peeled and quartered 
  • 1 can Mountain Dew or Diet Mountain Dew (12-ounce can)

PREPARATION:
Melt butter; add sugar (or truvia) and cinnamon. Unroll crescent dough and place one peach quarter on each crescent. Roll dough around peach from large end to small. Place in 12x10x2-inch pan. Pour butter mixture over the rolls and then pour Mountain Dew (or Diet Dew) on top. Bake at 350 o oven for 45 minutes. Yield: 16 servings.
